1. General Questions:
1.1 What is the difference between Select Plans and Premium Plans?
Select Plans assign each FTP User ID access to a specific directory.
Premium Plans give you the added features of:
- Having a dedicated IP address.
- Ability to assign multiple FTP User IDs to multiple directories. Example: Sales, Service and Accounting directories are assigned to John, Mike and Mary. Warranty directory is assigned to John and Mary.
- Easily assign individual directory permissions. Example: The Sales and Service folders are given download only permissions. While the Accounting and Warranty folders are given upload/download permissions.
1.2 Do I need a secure FTP site?
All FTP Worldwide FTP sites are secure in that they require all users to have a login name and password to gain access to any of our FTP sites. And all our servers are behind firewalls with the latest intrusion and brute force protections. Our Secure FTP sites, however, go one step further by protecting the files while they are being transferred across the internet. When the files are being transferred, they are encrypted so that even if a hacker somehow downloads them they are not readable.
Who needs a Secure FTP site? (Most businesses do not require a Secure FTP site, unless it is required by law or corporate policy. The choice is really up to the individual customer.)
- Businesses transferring credit card information.
- Financial institutions.
- Anyone transferring personal records or any type of personal information.

- 128-bit transfer encryption for all Secure FTP sites. All files transferred to and from a secure ftp site are encrypted over the internet.
- FTP over HTTPS (SSL) - requires the use of the FTP Worldwide browser- based java applet. This means no one can access a secure FTP site with any other FTP secure software client adding to the overall security.
- FTPS Wrapper available for external ftp clients.
- SFTP over SSH available.
- Many medical transcription companies use FTP Worldwide to transfer voice and text files on a daily basis.
1.4 I tried your Demo but it will only let me download. Why can't I upload?
The Demo was set up to allow downloads only to prevent people from abusing the Demo and trying to transfer their files.
1.5 What does "File Capacity" mean in your plans on the web site?
The file capacity limit of the FTP sites is the total amount of data that can be loaded on your FTP site at any given time. Once the data is removed, you can continue to upload data as long as you don't exceed your FTP site capacity (or increase your plan size).
1.6 What does “Number of Users” mean in the plan name?
The Number of Users in any plan is the number of individual usernames and passwords you can create for a specific FTP plan in addition to the admin id and password. If you provide the same user id and password to two or more people, that still counts as one user.
1.7 Are there limits on a file transfer size?
No, unlike most FTP transfer services that have a 2Gig maximum file transfer size, FTP Worldwide does not restrict the size of a transfer. The only limit is the actual capacity of the FTP site.
1.8 Can I use anonymous-FTP?
No, for security and privacy reasons, anonymous FTP is not allowed.
1.9 Will my users require additional software?
No, there is no additional software required by your users. FTP Worldwide provides a web based FTP Client for you and your users. JAVA may need to be activated or updated, but most computers already have JAVA installed.
1.10 What if I don't see the FTP plan size I need on your web site?

1.14 Will my users be password protected?
All your users will be password protected by you. You will have total control of your site.
1.15 How long will it take to set up my account?

The accepted form of payment is with a credit card. For semi-annual and annual plans, a purchase order / invoice is an option.

You only pay one flat rate with FTP Worldwide because your site has unlimited transfers. Most FTP sites have additional charges based on the amount of actual file transfers. (bandwidth usage).
1.18 If a transfer is interrupted, will it pick up where it was dropped or do I have to start over?
FTP Worldwide web based FTP client will resume the broken transfer. This feature eliminates the need to start the transfer from the beginning.
1.19 Do you provide backups or file storage?
Currently, we offer FTP Hosting only, which provides a throughput for data. Since you would have a local copy of all your data, account file backups are usually not necessary.
